RCC 2013 SO FAR

Happy New Year to you all.

January is soon running out of days and 2013 is in full swing. It’s been a great start to the year which I hope will see RCC grow and grow.

jamescoticbuildJanuary saw James complete his Cotic MTB build. James and I have been working on building a steel HT and over several coffees and numerous emails we took delivery of all the selected parts. Then the best bit. James arranged to come into RCC and with my assistance, he built his bike. It took a while but the effort James put in was worth it. Congratulation James.

I received a call from David asking if I could build his new road bike for him. David dropped off a few big boxes at RCC and I set to putting together a dream of a road bike. An S-Works Tarmac frame with Shimano’s latest Dura Ace group set and carbon wheels.

As if you didn’t know Welcome to Yorkshire was successful in bringing the Tour De France here to Yorkshire. It was even better to hear that the Tour will be cycling through Skipton and my home town of Haworth. Problem is I have to wait till 2014. But in the mean time RCC plans to get into the Tour De France spirit by arranging Tour De France guided rides along the tour route and to do It’s own OFF ROAD Tour ride. If that’s got you interested then give me a call 01756 796844.

IMG_1972Thursday nights at RCC are TURBO nights. From 7pm till 8pm RCC will open its doors to anyone wanting to use our open shop area to train aboard their bike and turbo trainer. We have hot & cold drinks available. If anyone is interested in taking a class then please let me know but in the mean time I will be throwing in a few sprint and hill climb intervals or just concentrating on my heart rate monitor.              £3.50 per session.

Like many of you (I hope) I have put some races and events in my diary. Last year I competed in the Cairngorm 200. A 200 mile self supported ride in amongst the Cairngorm mountain range. This May I have been invited to ride the Highland Trail 400. This little beauty consists of a 430 mile self supported ride in the Highlands of Scotland. With 40+ adventure racers from as far as the USA and Europe attending I need to seriously knuckle down and prepare for what will be an exciting and epic event. My head says plan for a 5 day ride but my heart wants to do it in 4. What ever happens I need to be prepared so bike, kit, cloths and navigation needs to be researched, tested and finalised. This also means some long distance rides leading up to the event, so if anyone would like to join me on an off road/road weekend of none stop cycling then you know what to do. Give me a call 01756 796844.

RCC Maintenance courses.

M,Course picOur maintenance courses continue to be a great success here at RCC. Your 2 hour session working on your bike will show you how to maintain your bike, how to undertake basic maintenance jobs and how to clean and lubricate your bike. The course can be customised to your own requirements so if you know how to change an inner tube then we will not cover this and move on to what will help you.
