RCC HILL CLIMB CHALLENGE

A while ago I took part in the ultimate “sportive”. The Bowland Badass.  Click on the link and take a look at this beast of a ride. 167 Lancashire miles and over 18,000ft of climbing. If my memory serves me correct this ride lasted for 2 years before it sank into the archives.

Reminiscing on rides gone by got me thinking and I started to hatch a plan.

Include some of Yorkshires best climbs. Malham Cove, Langcliffe Scar, Dent (x2 climbs), Buttertubs, Tan Hill, Oxnop Scar, FleetMoss, Kidstones, Park Rash, GreenHow, Black Park.

Remember. Every good climb usually has a good descent.

Study the map and plan a route taking in as many climbs as I can. Route link download.

Arrange a date. Saturday 17th September 2016

Arrange a start time and location. 06.00am at Riders Cycle Centre

Have a hash tag #RCCHCC so riders can share, link via FaceBook etc

This is a challenge I have set myself and I invite anyone to come join me in this challenge. Needless to say this is a hard ride so be prepared. This is not just about completing the entire route but also about how many climbs you can conquer before she bites you.

During my ride I will be using local amenities to keep me fuelled. You do the same. You could also get your family involved and get them to meet you somewhere along the route with some sandwiches and fizzy pop. The choice is yours.

I WILL NOT be attaching any arrows to lampposts or handing out route maps at the start. If you are attempting this challenge then I expect you will have all the gear and gadgets to safely get you as far as your body will take you. I will be uploading the GPX file onto my Garmin ETrex and making sure I have some spare AA batteries as I may be out for a few hours.

Here is a link to my FaceBook page. Please click if you want to join me in my #RCCHCC challenge.

Ok then, I don’t think I need to add anything else apart from see you on the 17th @06.00am.

PLEASE SHARE THIS PAGE WITH YOU’RE CYCLING CHUMS.

PLEASE HASHTAG #RCCHCC WHENEVER YOU CAN.
